Chapter 6 – The Process of Life

NCERT Class 10 Science Chapter 6 describes the process of life. There are six life processes which all living organisms carry out. They are:

Heterotrophic Nutrition

  • In this process the glucose molecule is incompletely broken down.
  • The process of anaerobic respiration takes place in lower organisms like yeast, some species of bacteria and parasites like tapeworm.

Aerobic breathing gives the body more energy. For plants, soil is the closest and richest source of raw materials such as nitrogen, phosphorus and other minerals. In humans, the transport of materials such as oxygen, carbon dioxide, food and waste products is a function of the circulatory system. The heart, blood and blood vessels altogether form circulatory.

In highly differentiated plants, the transport of water, minerals, food and other materials is a function of the vascular network, which consists of xylem and phloem. In humans, the waste product in the form of dissolved nitrogen compounds is removed from the nephrons in the kidneys. Plants use a variety of techniques to dispose of waste material.

Chapter 7 – Control and Coordination

Chapter 7 of Grade 10 control and coordination notes, which are the functions of the nervous and hormonal systems in our bodies. Nervous system responses can be classified as reflex actions, voluntary actions, or involuntary actions. The nervous system uses electrical impulses to carry messages. They receive body information from sensory organs and work through muscles.

Chapter 8 – How Organisms Reproduce

Depending on their body structure, different organisms use different modes of reproduction. When dividing, many bacteria and protozoa divide into two or more daughter cells. Organisms such as Hydra can regenerate when broken down into pieces.

They can also shed off shoots that will mature into new individuals. The roots, stems and leaves of some plants develop into new plants through asexual reproduction. This is an example of asexual reproduction, where a person creates a new generation. Sexual reproduction involves two people to create a new human being. The DNA replication mechanism creates variations that are useful for ensuring the survival of species. The sexual reproductive system allows for greater variety.

Reproduction in flowering plants involves transferring pollen grains from the anthers to the stigma, which is known as pollination. Fertilization follows. Body changes at puberty, such as an increase in breast size in girls and new facial hair in boys, are signs of puberty.

The male reproductive system in humans consists of the testes that produce sperm, the vas deferens, seminal vesicles, prostate, urethra, and penis.

The female reproductive system in humans consists of the ovaries, fallopian tubes, uterus and vagina.

Sexual reproduction in humans involves the entry of sperm into a woman’s vagina. Fertilization takes place in the fallopian tube. Contraception to avoid pregnancy can be achieved through the use of condoms, oral pills, and other methods.

Chapter 8: How do organisms reproduce? NCERT’s Class 10 Science Solution

It cannot be said that evolution moved from a lower form to a higher form. In contrast, evolution appears to have resulted in more complex body designs, although simpler body designs continue to evolve. The study of human evolution shows that we all belong to a species that evolved in Africa and gradually spread throughout the world.

Chapter 15 – Our Environment

This chapter describes how the various components in the environment interact and how we affect the environment. Various components of the ecosystem are interdependent. Producers provide solar energy to the entire ecosystem. When moving from one trophic level to another, energy is lost. This constricts the number of trophic levels in the food chain.

The food chain is described in detail using examples related to nature such as forests, grasslands and lakes. Human activities affect the environment. The use of chemicals such as CFCs has threatened the ozone layer. Because the ozone layer protects from ultraviolet solar radiation, it can damage the environment. The waste that we produce can be biodegradable or non-biodegradable. The disposal of the waste that we produce creates serious environmental problems.

Chapter 16 – Sustainable Natural Resource Management

In the previous class, we learned about some natural resources such as land, air and water and studied how the various components in nature repeatedly circulate. In this chapter we will look at some of our resources and how we can use them. Our resources such as forests, wildlife, water, coal and oil must be used sustainably.

We can reduce the pressure on the environment by sincerely applying the adage “reject, reduce, reuse, reuse and recycle” in our lives. Forest resource management must consider the interests of various interest groups. The use of water resources by constructing dams has social, economic and ecological consequences. There are alternatives to large dams. They are locally specific and can be designed so that local people have control over their local resources. Fossil fuels, coal and oil will eventually run out. Therefore, and because burning it is polluting our environment, we must use these resources wisely.
