NCERT Class 7 Chapter 4 Simple Equation Exercise 4.3

A mathematical equation which represents the relationship of two expressions on either side of the sign is known as a simple equation. Transposing is nothing but the process of moving a term from one side to the other side of an equation is known as transposing. It is just like adding and subtracting a number of an equation from both the sides. Everyone thinks that maths is very difficult but that’s wrong if we understand it will be a very easy subject.

Construct 3 equations starting with x=2
Sol: x=2

Multiplying both sides by 5,
5x-3=10-3
5x-3=7____(2)
Dividing both sides by 2,
5x-3=7______(3)
2 2 2
Subtracting 2 from both sides,
x-2=-2-2
x-2=-4_______(4)
Again, x=-2
Multiplying by 6,
5x-3=7
2 2 2

Construct 3 equations starting with x=-2
Sol: x=-2

Subtracting 2 from both sides,
x-2=-2-2
x-2=-4_____(1)
Again, x=-2
Multiplying by 6,
6x x=-2×6
6x=-12
Subtracting 12 from both sides,
6x-12=-12-12
6x-12=-24_____(2)
Adding 24 to both sides,
6x-12+24=-24+24
6x+12=0_____(3)

So here we give you some problems and try to solve them which are very problems.

  1. 4=5(p-2)
  2. -4=5(p-2)
  3. 16=4+3(t+2)
  4. 4+5(p-1)=34
  5. 0=16+4(m-6)
